If
you are of Mixed-Race descent and diagnosed with Leukaemia, your
chance of finding a bone marrow match is 1 in 100,000 compared to
1 in 5 chance if you are White.
Leukaemia means a cancer of the blood
forming system, which can be found in bone marrow (soft inner part
of your bones). In most types of Leukaemia abnormal white blood cells
are made in the bone marrow. These cells can get into the blood stream
and circulate round the body.
